
Thomas Lehrman
Mr. Thomas D. Lehrman is co-founder and Managing Partner of Teamworthy Ventures, a venture investment firm with offices in Nashville and New York City. He is co-founder and former co-Chief Executive Officer of Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), a research and information services company. He has participated as a board member of or investor in numerous early-stage technology and tech-enabled enterprises. Earlier in his career, he worked as a financial analyst at Tiger Management.
Mr. Lehrman previously served as Director of the Office of WMD Terrorism and Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security in the U.S. Department of State, where he advanced the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism and earned the Department’s Meritorious Honor Award. He also served as a member of the professional staff of the President’s WMD Commission.
Mr. Lehrman co-founded Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School, the first charter school in Brooklyn, New York, and has served as a board member of various K-12 and higher educational institutions, including KIPP NYC Public Charter Schools, Achievement First Charter Schools, Montgomery Bell Academy, The Brunswick School, Sacred Heart Greenwich, The Buckley School, The Montfort Academy, The Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. He has taught as a Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and as an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt Law School. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, an Advisor to the James Madison Program at Princeton University, and previously served on the board of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. He serves as a member of the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission, appointed by Governor Bill Lee and confirmed by the General Assembly.
Mr. Lehrman graduated with a B.A. from Duke University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. His writings on technology, innovation, finance, and national security policy have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and various law and policy journals, and he is the Executive Producer of Courtmaker: John Marshall and the Forging of America’s Supreme Court and Free Exercise: America’s Story of Religious Liberty.
